UMM AL-FAHM: For more than five decades, Leila Jabarin hid her secret from her Muslim children and grandchildren – that she was a Jewish Holocaust survivor born in Auschwitz concentration camp. Although her family knew she was a Jewish convert, none of them knew of her brutal past. It was only in the past week that Jabarin, who was born Helen Brashatsky, finally sat down and told them the story of how she was born inside Auschwitz, the most notorious symbol of Nazi Germany’s wartime campaign of genocide against Europe’s Jews.

In an interview with AFP to mark Holocaust Memorial Day which began at sundown yesterday, Jabarin, now 70, chuckles as she talks about what to call her. Her Muslim name is Leila, but in this Arab town in northern Israel where she has lived for the past 52 years, most people call her Umm Raja, Arabic for “Raja’s mother” after her first-born son. Like most Jewish children, she also has a Hebrew name – Leah – but she just likes to be called Helen. She was six when she came to live in Mandate Palestine with her parents, just months before the State of Israel was declared in May 1948.

They arrived in a ship carrying Jewish immigrants from the former Yugoslavia, which was forced to anchor off the coast of Haifa for a week due to a heavy British bombardment of the northern port city, she says. Despite the war which broke out as soon as the British pulled out, it was a far cry from the savage reality the family had witnessed inside Auschwitz, says Jabarin who is dressed in a hijab and long robes, but whose pale skin and blue eyes belie her Eastern European parentage.

Her mother, who was from Hungary, and her father, who was of Russian descent, were living in Yugoslavia when they were sent to the Auschwitz with their two young sons in 1941. “When they took them to Auschwitz, she was pregnant with me, and when she gave birth, the Christian doctor at Auschwitz hid me in bath towels,” she says, explaining how the doctor hid the family for three years under the floor of his house inside the camp. Her mother worked as a maid at the doctor’s home, while her father was the gardener.

“They used to come back at night and sleep under the floor and my mother used to tell us how the Nazis were killing children, but that this doctor saved us,” she says, recalling how her mother used to feed them on dry bread soaked in hot water with salt. “I still remember the black and white striped pyjamas and remember terrible beatings in the camp. If I was healthy enough, I would have gone back to see it but I have already had four heart attacks. It is scary and very, very difficult to remember that place where so many people suffered,” she admits, speaking in a mix of Hebrew and accented Arabic. She also speaks Hungarian, a little Yiddish and some Russian.

The family were finally freed when the camp was liberated in 1945 and left for Mandate Palestine three years later. At first, the new immigrants were put in camps at Atlit, some 20 km south of Haifa, but two years later, they moved further south to Holon and then to Ramat Gan near Tel Aviv. Ten years later, when she was 17, Helen Brashatsky eloped with a young Arab man called Ahmed Jabarin, and they moved to live in Umm al-Fahm, which caused a huge split with her family. “She ran away with me and she was 17 when we got married,” her husband says. “The Israeli authorities used to come to Umm al-Fahm and take her back to her family in Ramat Gan, then she would come straight back here.”

Initially, her family did not speak to her for two years, but later they were reconciled. In the end, it was her mother who suggested she convert to Islam when her eldest son turned 18 and was asked to do his compulsory military service. “My mother advised me not to send my son to do military service because if he did, my daughter would also have to do it. She said I should convert to Islam to save my daughter from serving in the army because Muslims would not let a girl live away from home on an army camp.”
So she converted. But she never told her family the full extent of her history. “I hid my pain for 52 years and the truth about my past from my eight children and my 31 grandchildren. I hid the fact that I was born in Auschwitz and what that painful past means. I was just waiting for the right moment to tell them.” The moment came several days ago when a man turned up from the Israeli social services and got talking to her about her past, just days before the annual ceremonies remembering the Holocaust. “Whenever it is Holocaust Memorial Day, I cry alone. There are no words to describe the pain that I feel. How can children eat dry bread soaked in water? If this happened to my children, I don’t know what would become of me.”

For her family, the revelation was a huge shock – but it answered a lot of questions, admits her 33-year-old son Nader Jabarin. “Mum used to cry on Holocaust Memorial Day watching all the ceremonies on Israeli television. We never understood why. We all used to get out of the way and leave her alone in the house,” he told AFP. But by telling her long-kept secret, it had brought release to both her and her family, he said. “We understand her a bit more now.” – AFP

Five years ago this was a ruin, a military zone, sealed off to visitors, and by the grace of God we were able to prophesy annually at “The Crossing” until we see fruit of our labor and the Eastern Doorway swing open. In all the land there is not a site like this, the doorway and gateway to the promise land!

Get ready Church this is huge in the Spirit!

This Eastern gateway right across from Jericho on the river Jordan will be open all the time after the grand opening ceremony at the site on January 18th.

This is where Jesus Christ was baptized, heavens opened (and are still open) and the Holy Spirit came on Him like a dove in bodily form. The voice of the Father was heard. Joshua brought all of Israel across as the Jordan split open and they crossed on dry ground. Elisha crossed over here with a double portion of the Spirit.  An altar was built by the tribes here declaring that the Lord is their God.

The River has been opened now the bride moves onto Gilgal!

Joshua 4:19 - And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.

The Bible says on the east border of Jericho is where Israel camped and called it Gilgal. There are other Gilgal areas mentioned in the Word of God, but this one is next to one of the oldest synagogue in the world and Elisha springs. It is in view of the traditional site of the MT of temptation and Mt Nebo on the Jordan side behind it. We want to purchase and build a welcome place for the returning King on this land where King David reconciled with Judah.

The wedding hall our Church meets in has been sold, so we are moving into a center to use for a more suitable location. Please pray for us, the flock is being disciple’s and growing strong in the Lord. If you want to come help teach the Word to the Palestinians, come on!  What He began in the Spirit will come to completion. The enemy is terrified and continues to speak against the Lords work in Jericho, but his time is short and we are not leaving until we see the coming of the King…

It will be a day of fasting, prayer, intercession, praise, worship, warfare, prophetic dance and acts.

Many people come from around the world to Jerusalem and share with us what they think God is saying about who, where, and what Babylon is.  We want to share with you what God is showing to us on who this spiritual enemy of the cross is, seated in heavenly places.  Recently, God has asked us to take up a scroll, tie it to a rock, and throw it in the waterways- while declaring Babylon is falling. In Jeremiah 51:60-64 the prophet sends another person to the waterway with the words about Babylon, (chapter 50-51 of Jeremiah is the scroll) and then gave specific instructions on what to do with the scroll when he arrived at the Euphrates waterway.  In Revelation 17:15  it says, The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. So we know the harlot sits on many nations, tongues, and waterways. We know by Rev 17:5, she is the Mother of Harlots and abominations of the earth.

In many areas of scripture it is announced and prophesied Babylon is fallen. In Revelation 14:7-8, one angel is bringing the eternal Gospel to the ends of the earth while the other is following saying Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. In another scripture Revelation 18:1-8, an angel with great authority is prophesying Babylon is fallen and another voice declaring come out of her My people, lest you share in her plagues. Paul says in Ephesians 6:12, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

The battle is the Lords and He is inside of you with all power, dominion, and full authority. We must fight in heavenly places and quit trying to bring it down into our own reasoning by declaring peoples and places are Babylon. They can be under the influence of her power, but are not (her), ‘the harlot’ who sits in heavenly places is drunk with the blood of the saints. It is time for the army of God to rise up, declare and throw the stone. Like David, it is time to run after the giants and watch the Lamb take the principalities out. In the Name of Jesus Christ they will fall. We can declare just as we will through out eternity ‘the Lamb will overcome.’

The battle against Babylon is against a spiritual fortification’s in heavenly places. Deuteronomy 9:1-3, and Ephesians 6:12. Spiritual Babylon is drunk with the blood of the saints, the slain, and the prophets. In Revelation 17:6 I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. (She is like a vampire and full of stolen blood.) The Bible teaches us that life is in the blood.  Lives and souls of men are trapped in her Rev 18:13. Yesterday, on the waterway I saw a beautiful tree, very nicely shaped and groomed with a nice trunk but not much of a root system. It was so beautiful I was in wonder how to pray. The Lord revealed like the tree in the garden, it was a picture of Babylon full of the blood of the saints. It looked good to the taste for Adam and Eve, but was a road to death when they ate from it. In this harlot in Revelation 18:24 was found the blood of prophets and of saints of all who have been slain on the earth. The bloodlines belong to the Lamb. We must come out and be a separate people, run from the midst of her My people or share in her tribulation. Jeremiah 51:45

Let’s join in this heavenly mission with the Lamb as in Revelation 18:21 A great angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying So will Babylon, the great city be thrown down with violence and will not be found any longer.

These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, and those who are with Him are the called, the chosen, and the faithful.
